Semaglutide

GLP-1 Agonist

Semaglutide

Semaglutide is a GLP-1 Agonist. GLP-1 agonists are a type of medication used to treat type 2 diabetes. They work by increasing the production of the hormone GLP-1, which helps to regulate blood sugar levels. GLP-1 agonists can help to reduce insulin resistance, increase insulin production, reduce food intake, and slow down digestion. They are typically used in combination with other diabetes medications and lifestyle changes to help control blood sugar levels.

Semaglutide Weight Loss Studies

Semaglutide Study Outcome 1
New England Journal of Medicine

A phase 3, double-blind, randomized controlled trial of 1961 overweight or obese patients without diabetes published in the New England Journal of Medicine found that “Adults without diabetes who were overweight or obese had clinically relevant weight loss with weekly injections of semaglutide added to lifestyle changes.”*

Semaglutide Study Outcome 2
JAMA

A cohort study following 175 patients with a BMI of 27 or more receiving weekly semaglutide injections for 3-6 months found that semaglutide contributed statistically significant weight reductions at both the 3 and 6 month marks*

Side Effects

*Many patients using semaglutide report significant gastrointestinal side effects, sometimes severe enough to cause them to discontinue use of the semaglutide.

Reported side-effects include nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, constipation, & heartburn.

These side-effects have also been seen in the semaglutide weight loss studies:

New England Journal of Medicine

Of the patients using semaglutide in this study, 7% discontinued treatment due to adverse side effects, the study mentions that these were “mainly gastrointestinal”.

JAMA

Almost half (48.6%) of the patients using semaglutide reported experiencing adverse effects including nausea, vomiting, and other gastrointestinal symptoms. 11% of the patients in this study either stopped treatment or continued at a reduced dosage due to these side effects.

Support Products

Physicians and their patients using semaglutide have found improved results with these support products.

Incorporating the Semaglutide Support Kit to our semaglutide injection protocol has been very beneficial to our patients. We have seen a reduction in adverse effects of the injection such as nausea and bloating. Thank you to Marta and the team for introducing us to this great product.
